living out of a suitcase

i'm finally back "home".. homesick yes..but mostly nephewsick. i love my baby lawi so much i can't begin to explain i'll have moments where i beg my sister to send him over and those make up the 20 hours i am awake yes i hardly sleep.. im redecorating my room and have moved into the guest room complete with my portable custom made hello kitty shoe closet and atleast 15 suitcases and boxes with my clothes. i've not settled in. my room is taking forever it started out with a closet expansion but now i want to change everything i want a little garden patio next to a white jaccuzi i want a sunroom with a breakfast table i want a chandelier and lots of vases with bundles of pink peonies..

& i want to do it all by myself ..but you see where i'm going being the meticulous person that i am it's taking forever (an understatement) and i dont think i can carry on living in the haunted part of the house anymore. which i must add has no wireless coverage.

bottom line: i'm way beyond stressed..and will be taking a blogging mini break..i promise to post my spanish & turkish escapades for now a shout out to my favorite bloggers:

i *heart* boutique hotels

A serene haven just off the tourist beat but centrally located..this mansion dates back to the 16th century and has a series of courtyards planted with jasmine, orange and lemon trees..the most amazing thing about it though is this building is built on roman remains & 16th century murals..find out more.

the roman ruins beneath a glass ceiling underneath the main dining's not visible but the mosaic floor is beautiful and all in one piece.

my super comfy bed with an assortment of pillows (yes they have a pillow menu lol)

it's pretty hard to imagine that once upon a time Cordoba aka قرطبة was the thriving capital of the Caliphate (خلافة i've come to regard it as a ghost town. apart from the great mosque (which at one point housed 40,000 people for prayer) imagine!! the gastronomical scene was not anything i was impressed with, maybe due to the fact that august (hotttttttest moth) is not the peak season & every major restaurant is closed for vacation, nonetheless cordoba needed a day's worth of sightseeing i spent the other 2 days pampering myself @ bodyna the hotel spa ...&  yes it's true i have a newly professed love for boutique hotels.

i leave you with Clicks from Cordoba x

cross in mosque signifies triumph of the christian faith in Spain over islam

my green fan vs. mummys beige one - much prettier than the MZ ruins/remains (not lol)

snapshots from seville

"if I could only spend one more night between pool and garden,
in the olive-grooves, a legacy of grandeur,
where turtle doves sing and little birds warble;
in the Zahir, sheltering in a gentle rain,
while the Pleiades wink at us and we wink at them,
and the Zahi with its Sud al-Suud hall, watching us with envy,
because envy is love's constant companion;
it may be easy, it may be difficult;
everything depends upon the will of God"

Abbad-al Mutamid on his "blessed palace" during the sad days of his exile in Agmat - the takeover and fall of Seville 1248

moments: BBQ lunches at my grandfather's house in seville with family. catching a late night (occasionally funny) flamenco show at Los Gallos (Plaza Santa Cruz 11). Experiencing the local arabic hamam. horse driven carriage rides on the banks of seville. siting in my teeny balcony at the hotel during siestas, eating peaches and taking to my best friend.

the driveway leading to my granparent's house

the view from my balcony

Aire de Sevilla - (C/ Aire 15)
 Arabic style bathhouse with Morrocan tea room & delish sweets
(ps. forget the concept of sharing i would gulf down each piece and open my mouth to ask if anyone had wanted it gably LOL) lootyih!

getting here..

remember my infamous breakdown in june? we'll here's the lowdown. every sumer i am in charge of our family's travel itenerary, along with eric our agent for the last decade or more we set on about planning months in advance trips that would feed into everyone's need for leisure and relaxation. from the time i planned the alaskan cruise for dad to the time before my sister's wedding (where the theme was centered around -shopping metropolitans of the world- i dragged everyone to paris,milan,los angeles and finaly newyork for her wedding gown appointments with vera) and as always everything was about everyone else. (insert long pause. for readers. to sympathize with me) lol ..

anyways this summer sans sister i was left to plan a getaway for just me and my parents (a first) everyone else made other plans. and to feed into my meltdown i decided to make it all about me. lol they are cute they trust me and alas have given me the green light to "explore the islamic history of arabs from the great andalusian era and beyond" yes i'm quite the history buff.. soaring weather aside (maxi-dresses* as per best friend's advice, leather sandals, sunglasses (HUGE) and spf - on hand, we have set on to explore the south of spain aka Andalucia..

first of Seville, et voila a picto documentation of getting to what is one of the most beautiful cities i have ever (ever) been to..

room 147

Its 2am ..I've been restless for the past couple of hours ..also I don´t remember the last time ive slept alone and here I am in this huge hotel suite with my parents connected but still 4 doors far apart..I'm blogging from my fone and listening to umkulthoum's ghanely shwayih shwayih..let's hope there r no J's here that flock to loud singing insomniacs ( I can't type their name let's just call them Jojoz that live in toilets and are super scary-to be safe ya3ny)
Anyways once I get a decent wifi signal I will update ..and reply to ur Q's I promise bs for now I shall savour the fact that I'm spending the next few (lonely) nights @ King alfonso's castle in one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to..truly as Rafael Cansinos-Assens once said "it is the city where all men wish they had been born"..& if I don't sleep now ill miss out on the early morning freshly squeezed orange juice and daddy's chitchats overlooking the most gorgeously lush patio x

i rode "seppi" a teal powerboat. i sat in the back put my legs up high and pretended  the sky formations were all shoe designs. nature was showcasing next seasons fluffy prima ballerina winter booties..or so it seemed. the weather was perfect. the scenery pristine. it was one of those moments where if only i could've..i would have made time stop.

today. i bought the cutest lanvin olive green ballerinas with black velvet bows (for those of you who know me u can understand my fionka fascination) anyways they were on sale. comfy. and super cute. i wore them on purchase and walked out of the store hugging them with my eyes and tossing my gold flats in a bag. a couple of hours later it started to rain and i was sharing an umbrella with my mother she was soaked. we both were lol she kept on tugging the umbrella backwards and i was pushing it forwards until she was like what are you doing im soaking wet from the back..i looked at her with a tearful pout & protested: bs omy na3aly ydeed!! LOL alors she made me wear my old ones then and there. lets pray tomorrow is a sunny sunshine day and i can run.skip and floric in full-on olive cuteness.

until then. be safe bella ragazzas x
